Salary: $28.07 - $33.02 per hour plus $1.25 shift premium (Benefits/Pension/Vacation)


Reporting to the Operations Supervisor and/or General Manager within the Transportation & Operations Department, the Mechanic is responsible for repairs and maintenance of Corporate owned equipment and vehicles. The Mechanic position is responsible for completing tasks and repairing equipment noted in the Duties and Responsibilities in the Job Description and assigned to ensure that our Fleet Inventory is managed to the highest standard, while being safety conscious and a team player with a positive attitude.


Essential (minimum) Qualifications:

  • Class 310T truck and coach license
  • Class DZ driver’s license
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Highway Traffic Act Regulation 575 and 611
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers, automated work order systems

Asset (preferred) Qualifications:

  • Class 421A heavy equipment technician license
  • Class 310S automotive technician license


Essential (minimum) Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years’ related experience

Asset (preferred) Qualifications:

  • Experience in heavy construction equipment operation and repair
  • Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
  • Exposure to Street Sweepers, Vacuum Trucks or Refuse equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Interpretation of blueprints and technical manuals
