Construction of the New Catharine Street Pedestrian Bridge has Been Delayed
Efforts are continuing on obtaining the necessary Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) authorizations for the project. Water levels in the Moira River at the bridge site have continued to rise with the rising Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario water levels.

Regarding Municipal Comprehensive Review

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE – Downtown Reconstruction

Update:

All Phases of the City Centre Reconstruction and Redevelopment Project have been substantially completed. However, there remain some unfinished items from last year and some repairs to be done on previous work. The general contractor for this project, Len Corcoran Excavating Ltd. (LCE) will begin this work on May 2nd.

What to Expect during Activities:

The work will include installation of trees and landscaping, completion of traffic signal works at Front Street and Dundas Street, repairs to roadways and sidewalks. You may experience vibrations, noise, and dust from work crews and other construction related equipment and activities.

There will be work in isolated locations on both sidewalks and roadways therefore traffic detours and diversions will occur. Flaggers will be onsite when necessary to direct traffic. Business and local resident access will be maintained at all times.

When-Work Hours:

LCE and their subcontractors will be on site starting in May to complete this work on both sidewalks and roadways during normal business hours. It is expected this work will require six (6) to eight (8) weeks to complete.

Where:

The work will take place throughout the downtown area between Station Street and Dundas Street, including side streets (Victoria Ave., Campbell St., Bridge St., McAnnany St., and Market St.).

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all property owners in accordance with the Weed Control Act, R.S.O, 1990, c.W5 (Act) every person in possession of land shall destroy all noxious weeds growing on their lands within the Municipality of Belleville by June 15, 2019 and throughout the season. Upon unsuccessful notification of 15 days the Municipality may enter upon said lands and cause the noxious weed or weed seeds to be destroyed, charging the costs against the land in taxes as set out in the Act.
