City Commends Belleville Police Service on Positive Stats Canada Release
Posted: July 23, 2019
The City of Belleville was pleased to note Stats Canada’s recently released 2018 Statistics for Police-reported crime, as measured by the crime rate and the Crime Severity Index (CSI), cited Belleville as having the largest decrease in the CSI (-20%), followed by Saguenay (-12%) and Peterborough (-10%). The Belleville Census Metropolitan Area also includes Quinte West, Stirling-Rawdon and Tyendinaga.
“I believe this report supports the steps that have been taken by Belleville Police Service to make Belleville the safest community in Ontario. It demonstrates their philosophy that – we’re here, we’re involved and we’re ensuring Belleville is a safe, inclusive community where we’re all proud to live. Their diligent enforcement will increase the number of charges and convictions, which in turn decreases the number of incidents. It is with great pride I see our City working together to make Belleville safe for everyone.” Mayor Mitch Panciuk
