City of Belleville Names New Director of Engineering & Development Services

The City of Belleville is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Ashton as Director of Engineering and Development Services.
Stephen has been the Manager of Policy Planning for the City of Belleville since June of 2018. Previously, Stephen was Manager of Planning, Building and Community Development for the Municipality of Brighton and prior to that, worked as a Planner for the Town of Whitby, the Town of Cobourg and the Town of Oakville.
Stephen will begin his new position effective Monday, November 4, 2019.
Former Director, Rod Bovay, was appointed Chief Administrative Officer in July 2019. Ray Ford stepped in as Interim Director of Engineering and Development Services in July and will remain the City’s Deputy Director/Manager of Engineering.
“We are excited to announce that Stephen has accepted this appointment and look forward to continued success within our Engineering and Development Services Department,” said Rod Bovay, CAO, City of Belleville. “Stephen brings over 15 years of management in addition to his planning and development experience.”
Mayor Panciuk welcomes Stephen to this new role; "Over the past 10 months Manager Ashton has done a great job leading a full review of our City Zoning By-Law, supporting our planning approval process and preparing the changes coming out of our Housing Summit among other duties. I am very pleased to see his promotion and City Council looks forward to working with Director Ashton in his new role."
