BELLEVILLE – Mayor, Council and members of the Field of Ability project team gathered this afternoon to accept a very generous donation in the amount of $11,072.99 from the Lions Club of Belleville.
The donation will cover the purchase of the new, state-of-the-art scoreboard which is now installed at the field.
“We are so grateful for the Lions Club’s generous contribution to this project,” said Mayor Mitch Panciuk. “The installation of this new addition means we are that much closer to having this fantastic community space up and running and we couldn’t be more excited.”
Construction of the project is well underway with the bulk of the work already completed. Some final touches, such as the roofs on the dug outs, will be completed before construction pauses for the winter. Rubberized turf will be installed in the spring as early as weather permits and a grand opening is planned for as early as June, 2020. The intention is to have the facility ready for use for the 2020 season.
Other upgrades to Veterans Park include a new picnic shelter, which will be installed before the end of the year, and washroom redevelopments in Parkdale Community Center which will be completed early next year.
