The Mayor's Week of the Arts returns May 25 to 29! This year's event will bring together new and returning events for a five-day celebration of the arts. Residents are encouraged to attend as many events as possible.

Emerging and established artists will leave their studios behind to paint and showcase their work “en plein air" during this week-long festival. Visitors will find artists using various mediums (oil, watercolour, acrylic and soft pastel) painting at their easels throughout Downtown Belleville, the Old East Hill, Victoria Park, Zwick’s Park, Meyers Pier, the Waterfront Trail and Signal Brewery in Corbyville. Join us at the Theatre in the Wings for the opening night of River & Main Theatre Company's production of "Scenes From a Park" on Thursday, May 26. The show will feature three short plays from Belleville playwrights - "Conversation Park" by Margaret Ruttan, "A Single Step" by Bill Petch and "Best Medicine" by Rick Zimmerman - with some musical surprises thrown in. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll leave the theatre smiling, guaranteed. Tickets are $22 each (including service charge) and all proceeds will go to the theatre for future events and programs. "In-Discussion with Best-Selling Author Linwood Barclay" Event | May 27 | 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. | Ticketed | Join us for this special presentation with Linwood Barclay at the John M. Parrott Gallery and hear a short reading from his brand new thrilling novel! Refreshments will be provided and questions will be taken by Mr. Barclay following the presentation. Beautifully shot in black and white, this sensitive film debates what's lost and gained in this dual portrait of a changing family and town. Quinte Arts en Plein Air Closing Ceremony | May 29 | 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. | Free | The energy and excitement of the Quinte Arts en Plein Air festival culminates in the closing ceremony and awards presentation at the John M. Parrott Gallery, where judges will award prizes to artists totaling over $5,000. All are welcome to attend.
