Feb. 17 to 23 is Heritage Week in Ontario – a week where Ontarians are invited to celebrate heritage in all its forms (cultural and natural, architectural, archaeological and collections), its diverse traditions and cultural expressions. The City of Belleville’s Heritage Belleville advisory committee and Glanmore National Historic Site will both be hosting special events in honour of this year’s celebration.
Heritage Belleville will host a free event on Thursday, Feb. 20 starting at 6 p.m. at UpFront Café (313 Front St.), featuring an awards ceremony for this year’s Heritage Revitalization Award winners, and a book reading with local author and historian Connie Carson. Carson will read an excerpt from her newest book, “Facades on Front”, with a book signing to follow.
Glanmore National Historic Site will hold a number of “Museum Chats” throughout the week. These chats will be held in an informal presentation format with museum staff and will feature a variety of topics. Regular museum admission applies. Please note this event will take place on the lower level of Glanmore. Those with mobility challenges are encouraged to contact staff before booking so appropriate arrangements can be made.
