Speed Limit Changes on Dundas Street

The speed limit in sections of Dundas Street East and West through Belleville will be lowered to 50 kilometres per hour starting today.

During the Sept. 23 Belleville City Council meeting, an amendment to Traffic By-law Number 12967 was approved, as recommended by the Transportation Committee, to change the speed limit in sections of Dundas Street East and West from 60 kilometres per hour to 50 kilometres per hour between Sienna Avenue and Haig Road.

The purpose of this speed limit change is to provide a consistent speed limit on Dundas Street through the urban serviced area of the city. This speed limit is consistent with other four-lane arterial roads within the urban city limits.

New 50 km/hour regulatory speed limit signs are being posted to notify motorists of the speed limit change. We appreciate motorists’ cooperation.
