The Belleville Youth Engagement Committee is “turning up the volume” on Youth Week celebrations with a unique and exciting event for local youth. Youth Week runs from May 1 to 7, 2025. As a kickoff to this year’s celebrations, the committee is inviting students from Grades 7 to 12 to a Silent Disco at Loyalist College’s Shark Tank Pub on Friday, May 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. — a fun, safe and inclusive way to bring young people together.
The evening will begin with an inspirational address to set the tone for a night of empowerment and celebration. Attendees can groove to music mixed live by local high school student DJ Avery Hone, all through their own set of individual wireless headphones that allow each participant to choose their own music. Headphones provided courtesy of Loyalist College.
“We’re thrilled to host this event as part of Youth Week,” said Olivia Millard, Belleville Youth Engagement Committee Member. “It’s about creating spaces where youth feel celebrated, connected and safe — what better way to do that than through music and movement?”
Free popcorn will be provided by Sweet P’s Party Treats, a local youth-owned business, and community organizations will host interactive booths showcasing youth services, supports and opportunities in the region. Special thanks to Loyalist College for generously donating the space and disco equipment.
