The City of Belleville has sent a crew of six operations staff to the City of Peterborough to assist in cleaning up the damages caused by last weekend's ice storm.
A forestry crew, bucket truck, chipper and chipper truck headed for Peterborough early this morning and will work with the City of Peterborough and HydroOne staff on storm relief efforts. Peterborough is still experiencing widespread power outages throughout the city and the surrounding area.
“As a community, we understand the challenges posed by such a severe storm,” said Mayor Neil Ellis. “Mayor Jeff Leal reached out to request assistance, and we are more than willing to send staff and resources to help the City of Peterborough as they continue their restoration efforts.”
“We quickly jumped into action when we heard the call for assistance,” said Joe Reid, Director of Transportation & Operations. “Our team is happy to offer their expertise and equipment to help our friends in Peterborough with the aftermath of the ice storm. We are committed to assisting in any way we can.”
The City of Belleville is working closely with the City of Peterborough and is prepared to extend further assistance if necessary.
