If you have an Accessible Parking Permit, you may park in accessible parking spaces for free. If there are no accessible parking spaces available, you may park for free in any available space. Please make sure your Accessible Parking Permit is on display so that you don't receive a ticket, and note you can't park in any other space where parking is forbidden or restricted.
Accessible Parking Permit
A number of accessible parking options are provided both on-street and in City-owned parking facilities located in the downtown core.
Designated accessible parking spaces are clearly indicated by posted signage and are reserved for persons with a registered Accessible Parking Permit (APP). Parking in one of these designated spaces without an APP could result in a $305 fine.
The APP is issued by the Province of Ontario to an individual or company and entitles the vehicle in which it is displayed to be parked in a designated accessible parking space. For an APP issued to an individual, the person to whom the APP is issued must be transported in the vehicle and the APP must be visibly displayed on the dashboard or sun visor when it is parked in the designated accessible parking space. Individual permit holders may use the permit in any vehicle in which they are traveling.
More information about the eligibility criteria for an APP and how to apply for an APP is available from Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Offices (operated by the Ministry of Transportation or Service Ontario).
Can I receive a parking ticket for parking in an accessible parking space if I have an Accessible Parking Permit?
