New fareboxes have been installed on Belleville Transit buses featuring:
- A Transfers emitter
- Colour passengers display
- Coin acceptor
- New Bill validator
- QR Barcode scanner
- And a new smart media tap area
This streamlines all fareboxes in the City to have more ways to pay for passage on the buses.
Passengers can continue paying their fare the same way they do now.
Eventually, credit and debit cards will also be accepted on the buses.
Belleville Transit accepts multiple payment types. This makes getting onboard easy, using the best option for you!

From your app store download B-TAP and pay for your bus ride with your smart phone or tablet.
Download the B-TAP app and load your fare, either a monthly pass, or single rides. Monthly passes on B-TAP are valid for 30 days from when you first use it. If you start on the 15th of the month, your monthly pass is valid until the 15th of the next month.
Before you board the bus activate the monthly pass or single ride, and show the QR Code on your electronic device to the driver when boarding the bus. You may be required to also show proof of age or school ID for certain monthly passes.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a BTAP account to purchase a ticket or pass? |
No. You can make purchases as a Guest but they will not be protected if you lose access to your phone. A warning message will be presented to you before you proceed with your payment. |
How do I continue using the application if I change my device? |
When you lose your phone, or change it for a new one, you need to contact us via email at: btap@belleville.ca, and specify the email address associated with your account. When we receive your email, we will release your account from the old device, and you can re-install the application on your new device and login. All your previously purchased products and preferences will still be there. Please expect a 24 hours delay for this request. |
Can I share my passes with friends or family? |
No. This is considered fraud. The tickets or passes purchased on your phone are for your use only. If you attempt to share these with other people, you may be denied boarding and lose the privilege of using the application. |
How much time do I have for boarding once I have activated my ticket or my pass? |
Most fare products are set for a 10 minutes countdown once the product has been activated. |
Does my phone need to be connected to a cellular network or the Internet for me to activate the ticket or pass? |
No. You do need, however, access to the internet for purchasing your fare products. But once they are on your phone, you can activate them at all times, whether connected or not. |
