The City’s Parkland and Recreation Master Plan includes a number of recommendations for developing parks and recreational opportunities in Belleville over the next 10 years. The City will be undertaking a number of improvement projects to existing parks and playground facilities over the next several years to fill identified gaps and areas for improvement.
Recent and Ongoing Projects
Riverstone Park |
The City will be working alongside the developer to install trees, trail paving/connection and a 3v3 basketball court in Riverstone Subdivision. This project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2025 |
Parking Lot Improvements |
Parkdale Veterans Park will see paving improvements to enhance accessibility to the recreational trail connections and the facilities within the park. This project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2025. The parking lot at the Quinte Rowing Club will also see paving improvements to provide structure, flow and enhance accessibility for this facility. This project is also scheduled to be completed at the end of 2025. |
Thurlow Park |
Through a collaborative effort between the Quinte Cricket Association and the City of Belleville, a cricket pitch has been funded and will be installed in the two most easterly rectangular fields at the park. This project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2025. |
Shirley Langer Recreational Trail |
Phase one of the newly established Shirley Langer Recreational Trail was completed in 2021. Phase two which included the installation and construction of cross-country skiing and snow shoe trails for winter recreation and rough terrain cycling during other seasons, was completed in 2024. |
Riverside Park West |
Work at Riverside Park West included the installation of a BMX Pump Track and skills development area which were opened to the public in 2023 and 2024. |
Clifford Sonny Belch Park (formally Hillcrest Park) |
The development of Clifford Sonny Belch Park (formerly Hillcrest Park) includes the addition of eight pickleball courts, two 3v3 basketball courts, a skate dot, a picnic shelter, splashpad, playground, trail establishment and paving, landscaping and tree planting, as well as other park amenities. Phase one and two of this project were completed in 2024, with phase three planned for 2025. |
Potter's Creek |
The City completed improvements to Potter's Creek Park in 2024, including the installation of a new tennis and pickleball court with sport lighting. |
