This program provides a 40% property tax rebate to registered charities that are tenants in Commercial or Industrial class properties. The landlord may be contacted by the charity to provide relevant information required for the City of Belleville application. The deadline for 2024 applications is 4:30 pm February 28th 2025. Applications must be made on a yearly basis and can be submitted in person or online through the Charity Rebate Application
Applications for the current year must be received by the last day of February of the following year. For example, if you are submitting an application under Section 357 for the year 2024, you must apply by the last day of February 2025. Section 358 for 2023, 2024 by the last day of February 2025.
Please note: the City of Belleville has delegated its powers for tax relief due to sickness or extreme poverty under Section 357 (1) (d.1) of the Municipal Act, to the Assessment Review Board (ARB). The ARB is an independent adjudicative tribunal that hears appeals from property owners who believe that their properties are incorrectly assessed or classified. We will forward a copy of your application to the ARB. Please note, the ARB will require copies of supporting documentation from you for income and expenses claimed on this application form. If you are making this application for medical reasons, the ARB will require copies of any supporting medical documentation that would relate to this application.
